To get you started the system comes with three standard modules that contain the core functionalities necessary for managing users.
  • User Module


    The User module allows you to manage learners, assign training and report on completions. Users are arranged into groups which might be companies, departments, job roles; as long as the structure is logical and hierarchical the choice is yours.   
  • Content Module


    The content module contains the basic structural hierarchy for training content management. This is key to organising content into logical libraries and allows an administrator to assign single courses or whole curricula at the same time.  
  • Reports Module


    The Reports modules allows you full access to the range of pre-configured reports of LMS Select. Whether you want to track a single course against a single group or run aggregate reports for all completions over all reports the quick and easy wizard will provide the results. 

Training Delivery Modules

With the standard modules you have the basic structure for an LMS. Now you need to decide what content is going to be managed through the system. You must select at least one of the following modules.

  • Classroom Module

    ClassroomIf you would like LMS Select to act partly or wholly as a classroom booking management system choose this module. The following functions are available:

    • Manage classroom events themselves (scheduling, wait-lists, self sign-up or via permissions)
    • Manage Instructors (define qualified instructors, manage their schedules, send notifications)
    • Manage Training Rooms (Scheduling and conflict management)
    • Manage Equipment ( Scheduling and conflict management)
    • Manage ad-hoc events (add users and sign them off post an ad-hoc event)
     
  • LMS Select Content Authoring tool

    Content AuthoringIf you need to develop straightforward instruction based e-learning (perfect for procedures and policies training) the in-built LMS Select authoring tool will be required. If you want to add links to website, documents or any other files to track user access you should also select this function.

     
  • Assessment Module

    AssessmentsIf you need to develop and manage assessments that are stand-alone of issued as part of a course you will need this function. The Assessments management module allows you to:

    • Add and manage an infinite number of questions that can be used as part of multiple assessments
    • Ask key question types such as: drag and drop, fill in the blanks, true or false and multiple choice. Multimedia elements such as pictures and videos can also be imbedded
    • Set up the assessment to automatically grade the response, show question answers, allow post-completion review or allow you to grade it manually
     
  • SCORM Course Manager

    Standard Modules screen shotIf you already have or plan to use e-learning courses either developed by your organisation or a third party you will select the SCORM Course manager. This allows you to import, assign and manage existing courses quickly and easily.

  • Noticeboard and News

    Noticeboard and newsThe noticeboard and news module provides a powerful, easy-to-use, portal to update your employees with news and information using the systems user interface. With this module the administrator can configure announcements and news items, based on user groups. For example if you wanted to alert all sales staff of new product training available, or teams in the US of upcoming policies that will affect their processes.

     
  • Fully Configurable user interface

    Configurable user interfaceCustomise the user interface according to user groups. This interface configuration module is perfect for organisations looking to train, or sell training, to groups outside of their organisation. For example, a software-house looking to provide an online training portal may brand it to each specific client; or a product manufacturer looking to provide their distributors with a support portal may to each specific distributor.

    The module will give you full access to modify background images, logos, font styles, colours and much more.

     
  • On-the-Job training (OJT) or Activity based training

    On-the-job trainingIf your organisation provides practical on-the-job (OJT) or activity based training, then this module will help you record and manage the process. This is particularly important if you would like to, or are legally required to provide a full record (and subsequently evidence) of all training that has taken place. This module is perfect if you want to assign, track and manage any training item that might not strictly conform to classroom or e-learning training.

    This could be anything from Continuing Professional Development Records (CPD) for working professionals, to assignments from students studying for an NVQ, or evidence of compliance recorded during a practical one-to-one in any industry.

     
  • Custom Forms

    Custom formsCustom Forms allow you to create web-based forms that can be used to give or receive information. Custom Forms has a number of distinct uses:

    • Pre-course questionnaires
    • Coach or user feedback forms
    • Surveys
    • Performance appraisals and 360 reviews

    Custom Forms should be selected if access to feedback and evaluations is an important part of your training requirements.

     
  • E-Commerce

    LMS Select _ EcommerceFor organisations looking to extend their training services online; the e-commerce module will allow your clients to purchase training courses that are managed through LMS Select. You can also include add-on resources, such as books and CD’s, through an easy to use interface.

    • Integrate the system with your existing payment gateway (if you don’t use one we can recommend one for you)
    • Tell us how you want course information and the payment process to look and we will set it up for you.
    • Set up discount codes for key clients or for periods of time that you can then use for marketing initiatives.
    • Manage the published catalogue of courses and other items with a simple process for edited and re-publishing courses.
     
  • Content Workflow module

    WorkflowThe Content Workflow module ensures validation steps are taken throughout the training content development process, ensuring quality and consistency. Rules are preconfigured to your review process and are applied to users based on roles. As an example, if you have a training document, where a subject-matter-expert has added new content; workflow can be applied, to ensure that a qualified member of the HR team has to approve it before it can be published.

  • Compliance Modules (E-signatures, Audit Trail and Advanced permission sets)

    ComplianceFor regulated industries, or organisations with strict quality controls, the compliance module will help you manage your training processes and records, to ensure that they are well within your compliance guidelines.

    The following key features are included in this module:

    E-Signatures
    Based on predefined rules that you set, single or multiple e-signatures can be captured at each stage to verify or approve completion or training elements.

    Audit Trail
    The audit trail provides full traceability over all training records. Any change in the system and to its training elements is recorded and will remain in the system’s archives. Detailed reports can be accessed for internal or external audits.

    Advanced Permission Sets
    Highly granular permission sets can be activated to allow strict access to administrative controls, functions and reports. E-signatures can be applied to allow or deny access to specific functions, for added security.

     
  • Dashboards Module

    DashboardsThe Dashboards module makes it easy for decision-makers to quickly identify training-gaps within their group or area of responsibility. Information found in reports such as "Training completed/not complete by user" and "training status by group" is illustrated in real-time on a series of graphs and displayed on the decision-maker's homepage.  

     
  • Forums

    ForumsCreate an interactive learning community with the Forums module. With this module users and administrators will be able to discuss particular subjects, courses, provide open feedback, or ask questions.

    This is a great way for trainers and managers to gain feedback to improve their training processes.

     
  • System Configuration module

    System ConfigurationTo give you increased flexibility and management capability this module allows you to add an extra level of detail to other key functions.

    • Mange User properties – as well as the standard LMS Select properties and your own
    • Manage Content properties – add properties to content allowing easier management for administrators and users
    • Manage Content Structure – if you want to change the course hierarchy structure or the names you can
     
  • Document Management

    Document ManagementIf you have policies, procedures or compliance documents that you need to ensure have been read and understood Document Manager will be required. Full version control ensures that an accurate audit trail is maintained and when the document is updated, republishing rules can be assigned to send the document out for retraining.

     
  • Certificates

    CertificatesBranded certificates can be automatically awarded based on pre-defined rules such as an employee completing an entire curriculum or passing an individual assessment or course. The certificate will be generated electronically and available for print or download. Fields are automatically populated with the individual's name, completed course and completed date.

  • Notifications

    Manage NotificationsMaking sure each and every individual in your organisation is aware of and reminded of training and tasks assigned can be an administrative headache- especially if it is done manually. With the Notifications module, email notifications are automatically triggered based on predefined rules and groups – reducing administration time and costs.

     
  • Advanced authoring

    Advanced AuthoringWant to create professional-looking, interactive e-learning, without the need for programming or design skills? CoAuthor is Cobent’s advanced content authoring tool; the tool comes with a preloaded library of reusable interactive assets and templates, making it quick and easy to create quality e-learning content.
